Severn River

The Severn River

The Severn River flows out of the Great Dividing Range above a town called Dundee, but has a large tributary called the Beardy Waters which runs from about thirty kilometers east of Glen Innes.

This is good Trout and Red Fin water.

As it runs past Glen Innes the Murray Cod numbers are more noticeable with some very large fish around the junction of these two rivers.

As the Severn runs west is flows through an area between Strathbogie and Pindari Dam at which point the river turns into a gorge.

This water is good fishing for Murray Cod but access is very limited. A well equipped 4WD or a very good pair of hiking shoes are essential to gain access. Be prepared to walk for miles and lose a lot of sweat if your 4WD isn't adequate.

The Severn runs out of Pindari Dam, down through Ashford and on to the junction of the Macintyre River around five kilometers from the Macintyre Falls.

All this section of the Severn River is excellent fishing, especially around Ashford.
