They live in the rivers and lagoons in Northern QLD , through the Gulf and into the Northern Territory, with specimens over a meter long in the rivers on the western side of Cape York, not uncommon. One of the best ways to catch the Saratoga is on surface lures, like most predatory fish their eyes are on top of their head so they feed forward and up, making something on the surface easy for them to see and eat. They are not very good to eat so I urge you to release this beautiful and ancient sport fish.
