Sooty Grunter

 This hard pulling fish is highly prized by sports fisherman, it lives in the lakes and rivers from the NSW border, up through Cape York, through the Gulf and into the Northern Territory.

They grow to around 3kg and take lures and fly readily, this is one of the hardest pulling fish I have encountered. They can be found around fallen trees, rocks and running water.

Although they are good eating their flesh can be tough, a lot like steak.
