Copeton Dam

Copeton is a large man-made lake around three times the size of Sydney Harbour. The lake is approximately 17 Kilometers long and can be accessed three ways.

The dam contains some of the best fishing in New South Wales with large numbers of fish up to some very large sizes.

The fish species include Murray Cod, Golden Perch, Silver Perch,
Red Fin , Catfish and Spangled Perch.

The closest being around a 15 minute drive from Inverell on the Auburnvale Road. Plenty of camping ground and a large shower and toilet facility are an attractive feature.

The second way is on the Howl Road and is around 30 Kilometers from Inverell. Although it has a great expanse of area for camping there are no other facilities.

The last being Copeton Waters State Park on the Bingara Road around 35 Kilometers from Inverell. It has all the facilities you could possibly need including a golf course, tennis court, a water slide, several playgrounds, A large kiosk that cooks hot food every day and has eight cabins and a bunkhouse for those who don't go much on camping.
